MASON CITY — Ruth A. Quisley, 71, of Mason City, Iowa, died Saturday April 30, 2016, at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Bethel United Methodist Church, Manly, Iowa, with the Rev. Don Preston officiating. Following the service her body will be cremated and inurnment will take place at a later time in the Manly Cemetery, Manly, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, Iowa. Family suggests memorials to Ruth A. Quisley memorial fund.

Ruth was born in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin H. and Emma (Heagel) Benjegerdes on August 25, 1944.

She graduated from North Central High School, Manly, Iowa, in 1962, graduated from Mason City Junior College and then Mankato State with a BS degree in 1966 and then various other course work.

Ruth was an elementary teacher for over 35 years, teaching in Hasting, Minnesota, Roosevelt and Hoover Elementary, Mason City, Iowa. Ruth enjoyed camping, embroidering, and spending time with her grandchildren and family, which were the center of her life.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Entre Nous Circle at Bethel United Methodist Church, lifetime member of National Education Association (N.E.A.) and Iowa State Education Association (I.S.E.A.).

Ruth is survived by her husband, Harold Quisley, Northwood, Iowa; three children, Jason (Amy) Squier, Tucumcari, New Mexico, and their children Vanessa and Ethan Squier; Nathan Squier, Carroll, Iowa, and Kathleen (Ryan) Gaetzke, Kensett, Iowa, and their children Chace, Mason and Elizabeth Gaetzke; two stepchildren, Lori Graham, Omaha, Nebraska, her children Jason, Jared (Kate) and Carolyn Graham; and David (Christine) Quisley and their children Tanna and Julia Quisley, Northwood, Iowa; and three children from a previous marriage that she helped raise, Donald (Lynn), Anthony (Susan) and Angela (Loren) and their children; and one sister Arlene (William) Blanchard, Manly, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; one brother in infancy Ralph Gordon Benjegerdes; a nephew Todd Clovis Blanchard; stepson-in-law Jay Graham; and great nephew Tad Clovis Venzke.
