Earl F. Jacobs, 85, of 949 15th Place N.E., Mason City, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 1996) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue until time of services on Saturday.

The family suggests memorials to the Earl F. Jacobs Memorial Fund.

Earl Jacobs was born June 29, 1910, near Sumner, a son of Fredrick and Phyllis (Wolf) Jacobs. He attended schools in Sumner.

Mr. Jacobs moved to Mason City in 1932 and married Verda I. Bell on May 2, 1933 in Mason City. He worked as a truck driver and dispatcher for F.S. Service out of Des Moines for 23 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; liked to bowl, play cards, fish and hunt; and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Verda I. Jacobs of Mason City; daughters, Phyllis A. Nelson and Marlene J. Moore, both of Mason City; four grandchildren, Tari Marson, Melanie Nelson, Christine Moore and Michael Moore; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Amanda Marson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John; one sister, Grace Springer; and one son-in-law, Miles Moore.
