Oswald T. Bailey, 86, of 4 Third St. N.W., Mason City, died Wednesday (April 3, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson and the Rev. Sharon Betsworth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lunch will be held in the East Room following committal services.

Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and also at the church one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Oswald T. Bailey was born Jan. 6, 1910, in Wakita, Okla., the son of Harrison and Rosella (Sears) Bailey. His family moved to Mason City in 1912 where he attended Mason City schools. He married Marie Hansen in June of 1931. She died Dec. 7, 1961. In 1964 he married Elvera Johnson of Sioux City. She died in November of 1992. Ossie worked for International Harvester for 37 years. He was transferred from Mason City to Sioux City in 1940 where he served as service manager for over 30 years. In 1992 he returned to Mason City to live at the Manor.

Ossie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City for 52 years. Since his return to Mason City, he had been a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. In Sioux City he was a member of the Landmark Lodge, the Shrine, Consistory and a member of SCORE.

Survivors include one daughter, Laurine Paule and her husband, Milton, of Burlington; one grandson, John Paule and his wife, Shari, of West Des Moines, and their children, Jessica and Austin; one granddaughter, Anne Paule Hall and her husband, John, of Omaha, Neb., and their children, James and Bill; one brother, Donald Bailey of Bethesda, Md.; three sisters, Elizabeth Little of De Soto, Texas, Goldie Boyd and Beulah Eppens, both of Mason City; a niece, Wanda Harris of Mason City; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Laura Harris; and four brothers, Melvin, Gail, Lester and Harold.
