June 25, 1934 ~ January 22, 1996

James E. Bennett, 61, 5 Regency Lane, died Monday (Jan. 22, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Friday until time of services at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

James was born June 25, 1934, in Greenville, the son of William J. and Lillian (Riser) Bennett.

The Bennett family moved to West Bend in 1940 and James graduated from Des Moines Township in 1952.

James and his brothers farmed in the West Bend area until 1967 when James moved to Mason City and started working for the Chicago & North Western Railroad.

He was currently employed by the railroad.

He was a member of the United Transportation Union, loved playing pinochle, deer hunting, gardening and sharing his computer skills with his grandchildren and others.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Suzette "Sue" Bennett of Mason City; three daughters, Anita J. Bennett of Mason City; Cynthia Rankin and her husband, Albert, of Rapid City, S.D., and Jane Euell and her husband, Daniel, of Littleton, Colo.; three sons, Allen Dean Bennett and his wife, Robin, of Aspers, Pa.; Jerald Bennett and his wife, Pam, of Jacksonville, Fla., and John Bennett and his wife, Laura, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three stepdaughters, Connie Bowan and her husband, Bob, of Albuquerque, N.M.; Cathy Bancroft of Mason City, and Cindy Smithe and her husband, Dennis, of West Union; one brother, William B. Bennett and his wife, Marian, of West Bend; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers.
