Maxine Deardeuff, 69, 5 Willowbrook Drive, died Thursday (Dec. 28, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Hanford Community Church with the Rev. Mark Culham of the Hanford Community Church and the Rev. Steve Hollingsworth of First Baptist Church, Sheffield, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to the Hanford Community Church.

Visitation was held Thursday (Dec. 28, 1995) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and will also be held one hour prior to services at the church today.

Maxine was born Sept. 18, 1926, in New Richland, Minn., the daughter of Jesse and Grace (Karpa) Carpenter. Maxine attended Mason City schools and worked briefly at Jacob E. Decker and Sons and Mercy Hospital. She married Donald E. Deardeuff on Oct. 30, 1948, in Mason City. Maxine worked alongside her husband, Don, on the farm for over 40 years. She was a member of Hanford Community Church, Bath Homemakers, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Emhoff and her husband, James, of Sheffield; grandchildren, Jesse, Nicholas and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don, who died on Tuesday (Dec. 26, 1995); daughters, Jan Marie and Nancy Kay, and an infant daughter at birth; and three brothers, Lewis, Claude and Glen Carpenter.
