Robert Hart Service to Be Friday

Robert J. Hart, 80, retired farmer, died late Tuesday afternoon [November 17, 1953] at his home, 422 6th S.E., following an illness. He had farmed in the Swaledale community 35 years until he retired and had lived in Mason City the past eight years.

Mr. Hart was born Aug. 21, 1873, at Waterville, Allamakee County, son of Patrick and June (Tracy) Hart. He was married to Margaret Downing at Rockwell July 26, 1907.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons, Francis, Mason City, and John, Swaledale; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Helen) Anderson, Mason City; eight grandchildren, Mary Ellen, John, Robert and James Hart and Mary, Susan, Jaxine and Howard Anderson.

Three brothers, John and Henry Hart, Plainview, Minn., and Fred Hart, St. Paul, Minn., and one sister, Mrs. John (Celia) Erding, Rochester, Minn., also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold; three brothers and four sisters.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. P. F. Malone, celebrant. A Rosary was planned for Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Patterson-James Chapel and Thursday at 8 p.m. at the farm home of John Hart, a mile west and 3 1/2 miles north of Swaledale. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockwell.
