Obituary ~ Doris L. (Steil) Edgar Morasch
November 23, 1926 ~ June 11, 2000

Doris Steil, daughter of Vern J. Steil and Hazel Genieva Anderson, was born in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota on 23 Nov 1926. She married 1st David Edgar on 4 Mar 1947 in Albert Lea, Freeborn Co., Minnesota. She married 2nd Donald Morasch on 12 Aug 1978 in Riceville, Iowa.

Funeral services for Doris Morasch of Riceville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15 at the Old Stone Methodist Church in Rock Falls. Rev. Deborah Stowers and Rev. Richard Boatman will officiate. Lindstrom Funeral Home will handle the arrangements. [Interment made at Rock Falls Cemetery, Rock Falls, Iowa.]

Doris, 73, died Sunday, July 11, 2000 at the Riceville Community Rest Home of cancer. Doris Morasch was born November 23, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Vern J. and Hazel G. (Anderson) Steil. She attended Rock Falls Community School.

On March 4, 1947 she married David E. Edgar in Albert Lea, MN. Doris spent most of her early adult life in Rock Falls. In 1963, she and David purchased the Rock Falls Grocery Store, which they ran together for five years. Doris then began her career in women's retail at Lundberg's Clothiers. She also worked at Buttrey's (later known as Maurice's) all in Mason City.

Doris was an active member of the Old Stone Methodist Church. David passed away February 1, 1973.

She married Donald Morasch on August 12, 1978 in Riceville. Doris, while retired, was very active in Riceville, teaching adult education courses through the school, volunteering at the Riceville Rest Home and was a member of the Congregational Church.

Doris enjoyed baking for the holidays, and decorating their house in Riceville for every holiday.

Doris is survived by her husband, Donald, of Riceville; two daughters, Bonnie Jennings of Longmont, CO, and Jackie Person of Skowhegan, ME; two sons, Harold Edgar of Rock Falls, and Michael Edgar of Mason City; one step-daughter, Debbie Hendrickson of Rochester, MN; and one step-son: Steven Morasch of Sleepy Eye, MN; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and four step-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her first husband David Edgar.
