John "Jack" C. Craw, 81, of Mason City died Friday, November 9, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

A funeral service for Jack will be held 11a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, Mason City with Pastor Sean McRoberts officiating. Burial will take place following the funeral luncheon at Rock Falls Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2012 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to the John Craw Memorial Fund in care of his family.

John C. Craw, son of Robert and Annie (Campbell) Craw was born February 5, 1931 in Manly, Iowa. Jack graduated from the Rock Falls High School in 1948 and enlisted in the United States Army shortly after. Following his honorable discharge in 1953, he was united in marriage to Alice Ballandby. To this union, three children were born: Cathleen, Jim, and Scott.

Jack first worked for Carnation Milk for a few years, relocating to Spirit Lake, Algona, and then back to Mason City. He continued his working career at J. E. Decker meat packing plant before working for the Chicago Northwestern railroad. Jack retired from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office as a jailer, working there for over 15 years.

Jack loved to build and solve jigsaw puzzles. He enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, golfing, along with helping anyone that needed it. Jack was everyone's grandpa and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends.

Jack was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City, Mason City VFW Post 733, President of the Iowa Bowling Association, and a 40 year plus member of the Highland Golf Course.

He will be missed by his three children, Cathleen Schmeisser, Jim (Cindy) Craw and Scott (Darlene) Craw; grandchildren, Tamara and Andrew Schmeisser, Parker and Blake Craw, and Madison, Elliott, and Evan Craw; all of Mason City; sister, Isabel Christiansen, Minneapolis, MN, sister-in-law, O' Donna (Leon) DeRock, Mason City and family friend, Vernon Kirlin, Mason City along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice and his brother, Robert.
