Charles L. Berrier dies at 90

Charles L. Berrier, 90, retired flagman for the M.& St.L. Railroad, died Thursday evening at a Mason City nursing home. He had lived in Mason City 39 years and made his home at 903 8th SE.

Mr. Berrier was born Sept. 21, 1872, in North Carolina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Berrier. He was married to Lecie Fletcher, Dec. 26, 1908, at High Point, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Raymond in Oregon; Charles, Santa Randal, Calif., and Paul, at home; four daughters, Savanah Berrier, at home; Mrs. Joe (Helen) Somers, Miss Pauline Berrier and Mary Williams, all of Mason City, a brother, three sisters, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son.

Funeral services have been set tentatively for 2 p.m. Monday at the McAuley-Scanlan McKasson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
