Dennis D. Beery, 34 (sic), of 24 11th NE, was listed in stable condition Sunday night at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, with injuries he received in a car-motorcycle accident earlier in the day.

Beery remained under close observation by hospital employees Sunday night, officials said.

Ruth A. Beery, 27, also of 24 11th NE and a passenger on the motorcycle Dennis Beery was driving, was treated at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for injuries received in the accident and released Sunday.

The accident occurred about 12:11 a.m. when a car driven west on 1st NW by James H. Hof, 925 N. Adams, attempted a left turn in front of Beery's motorcycle, which was eastbound on 1st NW, according to the police report.

Police cited Hof with failure to yield upon making a left turn.

Dennis D. Beery, 45, of Mason City, died Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in an accident east of Clear Lake on Friday, a spokesman for the Iowa State Patrol said.

Beery, of 105 18th St. S.E., was taken to North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, where he died.

Beery was driving east on Cerro Gordo County Road B35 about two miles east of Clear Lake when he lost control of his van on a patch of ice on a bridge, the patrol said. The vehicle went into a ditch, flipped over and rolled before coming to rest on its side. The accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Friday.

It was not known whether Beery was wearing a seat belt. He was not ejected from the van.

Dennis D. Beery, 45, of 105 18th St. S.E., Mason City, died Saturday at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Robert R. Beery Jr. and The Rev. Jerry Hull officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be given to the Dennis D. Beery Memorial Fund.

Dennis was born Nov. 19, 1949, at Mason City, a son of Robert R. Sr. and Shirley A. (Easley) Beery. He married Ruth A. Sellers on Feb. 10, 1983, at Las Vegas, Nev.

He attended school in Mason City and at Sylmar, Calif., graduating from Sylmar High School in 1968. Dennis was a graduate of St. James College, San Fernando, Calif., and Hamilton Business College, Mason City, where he served as president of the student council. Dennis worked as a theater projectionist in both the Los Angeles, Calif., and Mason City areas. He was employed at Classic Cleaners, Inc., Mason City, and owned and operated Little Pleasures Gift Shop, Mason City, at the time of his death.

He was a member of I.A.T.S.E. Union, Local #150, Los Angeles, Calif.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley A. Beery of Sylmar, California; his wife, Ruth Beery of Mason City; one son, Carl R. Beery of Mason City; one daughter, Jenny Beery of Mason City; two grand-children, Casandra Arndt and Al Jones, both of Mason City; one sister Lucinda Goebel and her husband, Larry, of Northridge, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Beery Jr. and his wife, Billie (Tedder), of The Dalles, Ore., and Douglas Beery and his wife Jan (Hewitt), of St. Paul, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Robert R. Beery Sr. in 1968.
