Icle Amanda Beenken was born on October 12, 1916, in Green Castle, MO, the daughter of William P. and Ida E. (White) Dixon. The family moved to Northwood when Icle was young and she attended school in Northwood. Icle lived in Mason City most of her life and worked as a baker for Mercy Hospital in Mason City for several years.

She was united in marriage to Edwin Beenken on December 16, 1944, in Lone Rock, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1973. Icle enjoyed gardening, cooking, loved to sing and visit with friends, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren. Icle loved and enjoyed the residents and staff at the I.O.O.F. Home.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Evelyn Tantow and her husband, Charles of Manly, Edwin Beenken of Clear Lake and Norma Carver and her husband, Larry of Mason City; three grandchildren: Tina Eckholt, Chad Beenken and Kim Moffett.

Besides her husband Edwin, she is also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Richard Dean and Ronald, and three brothers, Earl, Joe and Merle Dixon.
