WILLIAM D. MCKIBBEN DIES AT 81

CLEAR LAKE – William D. McKibben, 81, died Monday noon in the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Paul (Jerry) Hartwell, 201 N. 3rd St., where he had lived the last few months.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilcox Funeral Home with the Rev. Worthie K. Usher, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Mrs. Harry Mason will be organist.

William David McKibben was born May 24, 1888, in Monroe, Wis., the son of Oscar D. and Ada (Hodges) McKibben. He came to Iowa with his parents as a child, living in the Independence and Jessup areas until he was 12 years old, when the family came to the Fertile-Clear Lake vicinity as farmers.

Mr. McKibben was married May 24, 1911, in Mason City to Ava Kimball. They farmed near Clear Lake until 1932 when they moved into town. He worked for many years as foreman of the county road crew until he retired in 1960. His wife preceded him in death in 1964.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Thelma) Cash, Laurens; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Virgil, in 1966; two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers selected include Elmer Moffett, Howard Cash, Leonard Cash, Robert Cash, Raymond (Pete) Cash and Clarence T. Olson.
