C. MCGOWAN, FORMER LAKE FARMER, DIES

CLEAR LAKE – Clarence McGowan, 79, a former resident of Clear Lake died at a Mason City hospital Sunday evening following a long illness. Mr. and Mrs. McGowan had been living with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Findson, Mason City, the past few years. Mr. McGowan formerly operated a farm at the east end of Main avenue.

Mr. McGowan was born on a farm northwest of Clear Lake Sept. 23, 1871, son of Mr. and Mrs. William McGowan. He was married to Miss Cora Brinkley, formerly of Illinois. He was a member of the local Methodist church.

Besides his wife and daughter, Mr. McGowan is survived by a brother, Harry McGowan, Ionia and a sister, Mrs. David hamlet, Gentry, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers: Frank, who died in Oklahoma many years ago; William J., who died at Clear Lake Dec. 8, 1945, and Charles I., who died at Clear Lake Nov. 19, 1949.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Wilcox funeral chapel.

Transcriber’s Note – Clarence R. McGowan was born September 23, 1871, died 1951 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section 3 Row 11.
