E. P. MCCOY DIES; FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

CLEAR LAKE – Edward Patrick McCoy, 85, 1408 South Shore Drive, Clear Lake, was pronounced dead Saturday on arrival at a Mason City hospital after suffering a heart attack, it was reported.

Mr. McCoy was driver of a car which struck two trees about 10:15 a.m. in front of 30 5th NW and 504 N. Washington in Mason City.

Mrs. McCoy, a passenger in the car, was treated at a hospital for a bump on the head and released on Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Wilcox Funeral Home with the Rev. James Delay, pastor of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, officiating. A rosary will be said at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation will be after noon on Tuesday. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mr. McCoy was born June 15, 1885 in Limmerick, Ireland, the son of Patrick and Margaret (Mulcahy) McCoy. He was married Jan. 5, 1921, in Chicago, to Margaret Smith. They lived in Mason City 15 years prior to moving to Clear Lake in 1953. He was employed by the Iowa State Highway Commission.

Mr. McCoy served in the U.S. Army during World War I and was a member of 40 & 8.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Mike, Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret, in 1948.
