JAMES P. MCELDOON JR.

BRIGHTON – James Paul McEldoon Jr., 53, of rural Brighton, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (April 23, 1988) at and Iowa City hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Brighton United Church with the Rev. Robert Bell officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Brighton.

Visitation is this morning at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton and at the church before services. The family requests memorials be given to the Brighton United Church or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. McEldoon was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Mason City to James Paul and Leona (Schmidt) McEldoon Sr. He was a graduate of Clear Lake High School and served with the U.S. Army.

On April 14, 1957, he married Helen Buck in Clear Lake.

He had been a park ranger since 1961, and had been a park ranger at Lake Darling State Park, rural Brighton, since 1965

He was a member of the Park Rangers Association, Brighton United Church and Naaman Lodge 613 A.F. & A.M., serving as lodge master at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; three sons, James III, Iowa City; Todd of Ottumwa, and Mark, Cedar Rapids; his mother, Leona of Clear Lake; three sisters, Ruth Ann Knoll, Mason City; Karen Humphrey, Clear Lake, and Paula Juhl, Hollywood, Md., and one brother, Charles, Columbus, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father.
