GARY RAE SMITH, 1, DIES FROM CHOKING

CLEAR LAKE – Gary Rae Smith, one year old, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Smith, 825 S. Third street, died about 9 o’clock Friday evening, from choking.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Ward’s funeral home has charge.

Gary Rae was born July 12, 1947, at Clear Lake.

Dr. R.E. Smiley, coroner, reported Saturday morning after an autopsy, that death was caused by choking, believed to have been caused by cake decorations the child had eaten.

GARY R. SMITH RITES HELD AT CLEAR LAKE

CLEAR LAKE –Graveside services for Gary Rae Smith, one year old son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Ray Smith, 825 S. Third street, were held at the Clear Lake cemetery at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning, with the Rev. J.J. Buzynski, pastor of the St. Patrick’s Catholic church, conducting the service.

Gary Rae is survived by his parents, a brother 7 years old, and his grandparents, Mrs. J.E. Smith, Washburn, Mo., J.E. Smith, Clifton, Kans., and Sam Scholl, Clear Lake.

Some of the relatives out of town here for the services were Lawrence Scholl, Albert Lea, Minn.; Mrs. Kenneth Bonwell, Brainard, Minn.; Mrs. Otis Mailen, Clay City, Kans.; Miss Marjorie Wood, Clyde, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Al Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith, Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith, Nora Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wood, Nashua; Nick Scholl, Lakota; Mrs. Gladys Scholl, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Scholl and family and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Logan, Rockwell; Mrs. Henry Scholl, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stangler, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Rowe, Hampton, and Miss Doloris Smith, Marshfield, Mo. Out of town friends attending were Jess Bouges, Stanley Monroe, Nolan Thomson, and Mr. and Mrs. Ward Deitz, Charles City.
