DOROTHY HAMMOND

Dorothy Virginia Hammond, 68, of 718 N. Shore Drive, Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1991, at her home.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. James Louk, of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Columbarium, Mason City, at a later date. The body was cremated. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of services.

She was born June 23, 1922, in West Plaines, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Gertrude Renfrow McNevin. She attended school in West Plaines, Mo., and later business college. She lived in West Plaines where she worked at an agriculture business in the office. She worked at Lockheed in California during World War II. She married James Otis Hammond in 1943 in Las Vegas, Nev. She moved back to Clear Lake in 1946, where she lived on a farm from 1951-1963. She then moved into Clear Lake.

She loved children and has been babysitting ever since in Clear Lake.

She belonged to the Do Your Bit Club and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of Clear Lake; three sisters; and five brothers.

Honorary pallbearers were Val Kienst, Phillip Portwood, J. J. Hanson, Jessie Reimer, Tanner Denny, Katie Gentry, Ben Gentry, and Alex Gordon.

Organist Mary Jane Reynolds accompanied soloist Steven Erickson.
