Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaMASON CITY - Myrna M. Angell, 85, of Mason City, was called home by her Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, June 20, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th Street NW with Rev. Steve Hansen officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour prior to services on Friday. Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Iowa.
Myrna was born July 23, 1928 in Mason City, the daughter of Noel and Maybelle (Groth) DeWitt. She grew up on a farm on the North edge of Mason City, 2607 Federal Avenue. Myrna graduated from Mason City High School in 1946. She married Bruce W. Angell June 8, 1949 at Grace Evangelical Church, Mason City. Myrna worked for Hawkeye National Life Insurance as a sales agent for 43 years. Through her association with Hawkeye National, she qualified for trips to Holland, Hawaii, Jamaica and others. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. Through the years, she served as Sunday school teacher, church pianist, circle leader and secretary and treasurer of women's society. Her greatest joy was being with her loving family and her many friends.
Myrna is survived by her husband, Bruce W. Angell of Mason City; 2 sons, Gregory B. (Sally) Angell of Omaha, Nebraska, and Ronald A. (Dawn) Angell of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Kim (Andy) Sindelar of Omaha, Kelly Angell of Atlanta, Georgia, Lauren (Corbin) Miller of Austin, Texas, Brittany (Brian) Smith of Des Moines and Matthew Angell of West Des Moines; great grandchildren, Natalie, Jack and Caitlin; brother, Allan (Marian) DeWitt of Garner; several nieces and nephews.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leland; two nephews and one niece.
