HOLD RITES FOR MRS. M. HILL
CLEAR LAKE WOMAN SURVIVED BY SIX CHILDREN; SISTERSCLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Hill, 74, who died Friday morning at the home of Mrs. G. L. Patterson where she had been cared for the past four months, were held at Ward’s funeral home at 3:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Thomas B. Collins, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the rites and burial was in Clear Lake cemetery. Ward’s made the arrangements.
Pallbearers were George Lunn, Will Schultz, Leo Swanson, Mel Jacobson, Elmer Nelson and Paul Nelson. O. J. King, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Harold Thompson, sang “My Task” and “Somewhere a Voice Is Calling.”
Martha D. Kies was born at Martinville, Wis., July 10, 1864, one of nine children of Eben and Cordilla Kies. She grew to womanhood in that vicinity and on Feb. 27, 1890, was united in marriage to John Sidney Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. Hill lived near Martinville until 1898 when they moved to Cerro Gordo County. Mr. Hill died here in June, 1924. A year later Mrs. Hill left the farm home and since has resided in Clear Lake with the exception of some time spent in Minnesota with her daughter, Mrs. Bert Sandry.
Mrs. Hill is survived by six children, all of whom were present for the funeral. They are Mrs. Sandry, New Folden, Minn.; Harold Hill, Harvey, N.Dak.; Archie and Foster Hill, Hanlontown, and Ray and Clarence Hill, Clear Lake. One daughter preceded her in death, also three brothers, Henry, Will and Alvin and a sister, Emily.
Mrs. Hill is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Frank Croyier, Arthur, Wis.; Mrs. Ella Gundlach, Hazel Green, Wis.; and Miss Effie Kies and Mrs. Emma Kellar, McAllen, Tex.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Kate Baldwin, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Joe Hill, Fertile; 11 grandchildren and other more distant relatives. None of the sisters was able to be present.
