E.F. (Ernie) Rathmann Dies at 72

E. R. (Ernie) Rathmann, 72, retired night custodian of the Mason City Globe-Gazette, died Monday morning at a Mason City nursing home. He had lived in the community 14 years, making his home at 112 9th N.W.

He was born Ernest Fred Rathmann, Oct 31, 1886, in Grundy County, son of August and Marie (Lenth) Rathmann. He was married to Ila Telford Dec. 3, 1934, at Galena, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Pearl) Nangle, Van Nuys, Calif.; granddaughter, sister, Mrs. C. W. (Verna) Borcherding, Latimer, and two brothers, Arthur Rathmann, Hampton, and Walter Rathmann, Blanchard. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The family requested that any memorials be given to the church.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the Patterson-James Chapel after 7 p. m. Tuesday.

[Interment was made at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.]
