David Meed Service Set for Thursday

Funeral services for David C. Meed, 57, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the McAuley and Son chapel. Dr. Lloyd A. Gustafson, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate.

Mr. Meed died Monday in a Mason City hospital from injuries in an auto accident Oct. 13.

He was born Jan. 5, 1899, in Morgan County, Mo., son of John T. and Lillie Meed. He lived in Missouri until he was 20 years of age and then came to Mason City. He had been employed 36 years as section laborer on the Chicago & Great Western railroad.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Aug. 8, 1942, at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., and received his discharge May 22, 1946, at Camp Davis, N. C.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Jackson, Wichita, Kan., and Virginia Risling, Des Moines; an uncle, Thomas Richardson, Mason City; four grandchildren;and a brother, Thadeos Meed, Clinton, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite in Memorial Park Cemetery by the Mason City veterans organiations.
