Funeral services for Mrs. John (Beatrice Marie) Bray, 78, of Route 1, Clear Lake, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear lake. She died Tuesday (May 15, 1984) at a Mason City hospital.

The Rev. James Duster officiated and burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Bray was born Feb. 12, 1906 in Yankton, S.D., to George and Marie (Scherschligt) Bauman. She graduated from high school in Yankton in 1924 and married John Bray on Aug. 30, 1929 in Yankton. They lived in Memphis, Tenn., and in Minneapolis, Minn., before moving to Mason City where they lived many years. They also lived in Sioux City and moved to Clear Lake in about 1967. She and her husband had been married 55 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake.

Survivors include her husband, John; one daughter, Dr. J.L. “Joan” Bray, Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, Dennis, Des Moines, and three grandchildren, Catherine, Christopher and Julia Bray, all of Des Moines.

Organist at the services was Marie Faber. Pallbearers were Bob LaKose, Walter Cookman, Richard Robson and Dean Gilles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
