J.W. (WILL) PROCTOR RITES SET TUESDAY

CLEAR LAKE – John W. (Will) Proctor, 86, 1014 7th Ave. N., died Saturday in the Good Shepherd Geriatric Center, Mason City, where he had been for five years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Worthie K. Usher officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation was to be after 2 p.m. Monday at the Osthus Funeral Home.

John William Proctor was born Feb. 11, 1886, on a farm near Charles City, the son of Thomas and Sara (Grandy) Proctor. He received his education in rural Thornton school and was married Jan. 12, 1912, to Allie Steenhard in the Zion Reformed Church near Sheffield.

They farmed southeast of Thornton until 1923 when they moved to Clear Lake and to their present home in 1925. From 1925 until retirement in 1951, he was employed by the Farmers Lumber, city parks department and by several construction firms. Although retired, he kept busy with a number of jobs, including gardening, until entering the Good Shepherd Center.

Mr. Proctor is survived by four daughters, Mrs. W.O. (Ann) Ward and Mrs. Wilma Young, both of Clear Lake, Mrs. Leland (Clara) Brown, Lake Mills, Mrs. Delno (Betty) Hall, Phoenix, Ariz.; six sons, George Proctor, Rockwell, Thomas, Meservey, Harold, Fort Meyers, Fla., John, Carlisle, Vern and Allan, both of Clear Lake; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Smith, Mason City; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in March, two brothers and one sister. The Proctors celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in January at the Good Shepherd facility. Mr. Proctor was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Marvin Proctor, Marty Proctor, Duane Proctor, Kenneth Proctor, Dale Proctor and Ronald Ward.
