Mrs. Clara Hazelton-Corey, mother of Mrs. Howard Norman, died at the age of 86 years at Emmanuel hospital, Mankato (Minn.) Sunday night, Oct 8 (1944), following an illness of five weeks

Clara Jeanette Taylor was born at Mason City, Iowa June 20, 1858, the daughter of Alfred and Emmeline (Adams) Taylor, pioneer settlers of Cerro Gordo county Iowa.

On Dec 12, 1877, she was united in marriage to Charles Wesley Hazelton of Oconomowoc, Wis., who proceeded her in death in July 1920. To their union three daughters and a son were born, Emma Phoebe, who died at the age of three years, Jeannette (Mrs. Howard Norman) of Lake Crystal (Minn), Irene (Mrs. Harvey Leavitt)of Minneapolis, and DeWitt Charles Hazelton of Glendale, California, all of whom survive her.

For the past twenty-five years she made her home in California. On Nov. 8, 1926, she was married to Richard Corey of Montecito, Santa Barbara county, CA, formerly of Mason City and an old friend of the family. Mr Corey died at Santa Barbara in August 1935.

Returning to Minnesora two years ago, Mrs. Hazelton-Corey spent the winters in Minneapolis and the summers in Lake Crystal with her daughters. She was at the home of Mrs. Norman here when taken acutely ill five weeks ago and spent the last eleven days in Immanuel hospital in Mankato.

Also surviving, besides here children, are four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday (Oct. 11, 1944) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the James Funeral Home with Rev C. C. Clarke officiating. Burial was made in Lake Crystal cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Norman, Lee Norman, Ellsworth Norman, Fred Wilson, George Champlin, and Charles Wiggins.
