HOLD RITES FOR LAURA J. HENDY

Aged Lake Woman Buried in Cemetery at Plattaeville, Wis.

CLEAR LAKE - Funeral services for Miss Laura J. Hendy, 84, who died early Thursday monring, were held at the home, 119 North Third street, at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. The Rev. Thomas B. Collins conducted the rites and William funeral home was in charge.

Six grandnephews, Roger and Gordon Nelson, Leslie Adams, and Clifford, Carroll and Virgil Rice, acted as pallbearers. Miss Emma Anderson arranged the flowers. Mrs. L. E. Jacobson sang "Nearer My God, To Thee" and "Jesus, Savour (sic), Pilot Me."

Miss Hendy, who had lived in Clear Lake 35 years, was interested in the work of the Salvation Army while living in Wisconsin, her girlhood home. After coming to Clear Lake she assisted the Mason City unit as long as she was able. Miss Hendy was the last of her generation, having been preceded in death by one brother and eight sisters.

Following the services the body was taken overland to Platteville, Wis., where burial was made in the family lot [Greenwood Cemetery]. A brief graveside service was planned there. Accompanying the body were two nieces, Mrs. Clarence Hendy, Menasha, Wis., and Mrs. Mabel Dengler, Red Wing, Minn.
