Obituary - Doris (Carlsen) DeBell
August 05, 1922 ~ February 13, 2011

Doris DeBell, 88, of Ottumwa, died at 11:34 pm Feb. 13, 2011, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1922, to James and Mayme Carlsen in Allison. She married Don DeBell Sr. on May 8, 1972.

A graduate of Sheffied High School in 1939, she lived in Clear Lake and worked at Clear Lake Bakery and Siegs in Mason City and moved to Ottumwa in 1963. She worked at SIEDA and Easter Foods. She lived in Mesa, Ariz., for seven years and worked at Osco Drug. Then she moved back to Ottumwa in 1997 and worked at Farmers Insurance Group for four years.

Surviving are stepdaughter, Penny DeBell, and stepgrandchildren, Becky and Bobby DeBell; and stepson, David BeBell of Clear Lake; and three nieces, Susan Carlsen, Linda Carlsen, Judy Carlsen and nephew David Carlsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Carlsen; infant brother and sister; nephew, James (Jim) Carlsen; and stepson, Donald BeBell Jr.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Johnson's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Matthew Anderson officiating of Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton. Pallbearers will be Paul Bolibaugh, Jim Hayes, Bud Erwin, John Hunolt, Bill Dell and Paul Halferty. Visitation will start at 8 am until service time. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
