THORNTON – Funeral services for Mrs. Herbert (Irene B.) Fehr, 95, of Thornton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Thornton. The Rev. Richard Dunn and the Rev. Bob Dodge will officiate. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Fehr died Saturday (May 28, 1988) at North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, of natural causes.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Grarup Funeral Home, Thornton.

She was born Sept. 30, 1892, in Odin, Ill., to Orlando Lee and Anna (Arrington) Bowers. She received her education in the Odin school system.

From 1912 to 1913, she taught piano and music in Walnut, Kan.

On Aug. 30, 1913, she was united in marriage to Samuel Lamont Farrow in Decatur, Ill. They made their home in Clear Lake for 25 years. In 1942, they moved to Adel. Mr. Farrow died Sept. 11, 1963.

She was united in marriage to Herbert Fehr on Aug. 14,1965, in Des Moines. In 1974 they moved to the Thornton area where they lived until moving to the Sheffield Care Center.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Thornton.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert, at the Sheffield Care Center; three daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Louise) Jones of Burlington, Mrs. Dorothy Fessler of Swaledale and Mrs. Wilbur (Helen) Peterson of Garner; three sons, Robert Farrow of Des Moines, Jay Farrow of Adel and Donald Farrow of Medina, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Nelle Garner of Perry; 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Samuel, she was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, one son and two grandsons.
