HOMER N. HITCHCOCK

CLEAR LAKE - Homer N. Hitchcock, 87, of 1906 N. 8th Pl., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Sunday (Nov. 19, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. He was cremated.

Memorials services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Gary Johnson, spiritual coordinator with Hospice of North Iowa of Mason City, officiating. Inurnment will be in Menlo Cemetery in Menlo.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, and then one hour before the service on Saturday. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Hospice of North Iowa.

Homer was born March 11, 1913, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Kitty (Warnock) Hitchcock. He graduated from Menlo High School in Menlo, Iowa, in 1930 and then attended business school in Des Moines.

Homer married Thelma Glasscock Dec. 14, 1933, to whom their two children were born. He spent his life farming and operating livestock truckline in Radcliff and the Clear Lake area. He married Kate Hauge and later married Lucille Swan in 1991 who preceded him in death in 1993.

Homer enjoyed visiting with his family, friends, having coffee with them, dancing at the Surf, and watching sporting events.

Homer is survived by his daughter, Judith Ann Flowers, of Missouri City, Texas; one son, Homer Craig Hitchcock, of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Michelle Koch and her husband, Ron, of Fort Worth, Texas, Anna Marie Flowers and her husband, Robert Kent, of Omaha, Neb., Lisa Flowers-Davis and her husband, Trey, of Missouri City, Texas, Heather Fitzsimmons and her husband, Shane, of Missouri City, Texas, and Kent Hitchcock, of Denver, Colo.; and five great grandchildren, Tanya Reynolds, Meghan Reynolds, Mercedes Kent, Austin Kent and Makenna Fitzsimmons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lucille Swan.
