DONALD L. GASAWAY

Donald L. Gasaway, 80, of Mason City, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A funeral Mass was held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. A scriptural prayer service was held Thursday, June 18, followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary.

Donald L. Gasaway was born June 19, 1917, in Mason City, the son of John and Nellie (Conroy) Gasaway. He married Arlyne Virginia Jackson on Feb. 24, 1941 in Manly, Iowa.

Donald graduated from St. Joseph High School and Hamilton Business College. He worked as parts manager at S & R Chevrolet for 45 years and then also worked for Schukei and Sedars Motors until retiring.

He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed playing cribbage and walking in the mall. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he ushered for many years, and also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1006, Mason City.

He is survived by his son, Donald D. Gasaway, Marion, Ill.; one brother, John Gasaway, Concord, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Barb Gasaway, Mason City, Colleen Dillon and her husband, Kenneth, Folsom, Calif.; and one brother-in-law, Delbert Jackson and his wife, Jeanette, St. Mary’s, Ind., and Dale Jackson and his wife, Lucille, Tuscon, Ariz.; 13 nieces; seven nephews; and a long lifetime friend, Kenny Krieger, Mason City

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlyne on Nov. 15, 1997; two brothers, William and Charles Gasaway; one sister, Agnes Fitzgerald; and a sister-in-law, Laura Gasaway.
