FAITH V. BOYD

MASON CITY — Faith V. Boyd, 83, of 273 Willowbrook Drive, died Thursday (July 26, 2007) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, at the First Baptist Church, 125 E. State St., with the Rev. Ron Stein officiating. A family inurnment will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and continues one hour before the service Monday at the church.

Faith was born April 16, 1924, in Clear Lake, the daughter of Walter and Alma (Crosby) Wood. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1942 where she was on the girls’ basketball team and was in the school band.

On June 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Irvin E. Boyd at the First Methodist Church in Clear Lake. To this loving union three children were born, Mary Lou, David and Stephen.

Faith was a member of First Baptist Church and was a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, Mason City Chapter.

Faith loved to travel, camp and golf, but playing bridge was her favorite. She and Irv wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for several years.

She is survived by her three children, Mary Lou Murphy and husband, John, of Mason City, David Boyd and fiancée, Tami Gavin, of Waterloo, and Stephen Boyd and fiancée, Nancy Saunders, of Des Moines; grandchildren, Mark Murphy and wife, Theresa, of Ames, Robert Murphy of Mason City, Eric Boyd of Waterloo, and Brandon Boyd of Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Claudia and Becky Murphy of Ames, Mackenzie Murphy of Minneapolis, Minn., and Logan Boyd of Waterloo. She is also survived by her sister, Dolores Zirbel and husband, Glen, of Ankeny; her brothers, Amos Wood and wife, Rachel, of Clear Lake, Ellery Wood and wife, Darlene, of Garner and Don Wood and wife, Donita, of Pinetop, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Shirley Carr, and husband, Veryl, of Clear Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin, in 2001; her parents: Walter and Alma Wood; and infant brother, Jon.
