WILBERT “JUNIOR” GARRINGTON

Wilbert "Junior” Garrington Jr., 69, of 5851 South Shore Drive #48, Clear Lake, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 at Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 12, 1 p.m., at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastors Jim Allard and Steve Nicholson of Clear Lake Church of Christ officiating. Visiting hours will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. A memorial fund has been established in his named.

He was born May 14, 1931 in Marshalltown, the son of Wilbert and Loni (Marquis) Garrington. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown. He joined the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Bobbie Lukes on June 2, 1968 in LeGrande, Iowa. He was an owner/operator of a transportation company.

He left Marshalltown in 1970 and lived in California for 11 years. He retired in 1984 and returned to Clear Lake. He was an athlete in high school and excelled in football and baseball. He was an accomplished musician and singer. He played the piano, saxophone and organ. He and his brother were singing evangelists when they were young boys.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbette Garrington, Clear Lake; a son, Brad Garrington and his wife Robin, Clear Lake; two daughters, Monique and her husband Richard Pinheiro, Clear Lake, and Chris and her husband Mark Smith, Savannah, Tenn.; two step-sons, Todd Shill and his wife Debbie of Johnston, Iowa, and Shawn Shill and his wife, Jamie of Clear Lake; two brothers, Jack and his wife LeAnne Garrington, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Don and his wife Judy Garrington, Mission Viejo, Calif.; and sixteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, his son Rick, and his daughter Kim
