RITES HELD FOR MRS. BAKER
TUMBLESON OFFICIATES AND BURIAL MADE AT LAKE CEMETERY

CLEAR LAKE, MAY 24 – Funeral services for Mrs. Emma C. Baker were held at the home on South Second Street, the Rev. J.R. Tumbleson officiating. Burial was made in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Baker was born at Lacon, Ill. She was married to Silas C. Baker at Streeter, Ill., and grew to womanhood on a farm in Illinois. Like many others of the early pioneers moved to South Dakota in 1884 where they lived on a farm, moving to Pierre, S. Dak., in July, 1904.

She came to Clear Lake with E. N. Renz to care for his two motherless daughters, Thelma and Helen, now Mrs. Claire Davis, and lived with them until they had grown to young womanhood.

In 1923 she built the present home that she could care for her mother, Mrs. Margaret Brewster, 98, who still survives her, besides her two daughters, Mrs. W.H. Bailey and Maude L. Dann. Two brothers, J.M. Brewster of Herman, Nebr., and Fred C. Brewster, Cleveland Ohio, one sister, Mrs. Lois Tunstall, Yakima, Wash., also survive her.

Pallbearers were C.E. Geist, J.R. Kugler, Chris Jacobson, Claire Davis, Henry Volstad and W.F. Rich. Mrs. D.E. Kenyon and Mrs. A.H. Runcie sang several selections.

NOTE - Emma C. Baker was born 1859, died May 21, 1933 and was buried in Clear Lake Cemetery Section B Row 3.
