Obituary - Joanne K. (Dyvad) Snyder
September 08, 1936 ~ November 08, 2013

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Joanne K. Snyder, 77, of Fayetteville, Ark., formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the Washington Regional Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, 100 S. Pierce Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Paul Collier officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, 100 S. Pierce Ave., Mason City, IA 50401 or Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St. S.E., Mason City, IA 50401. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Joanne was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Josephine (Nelson) Dyvad. She grew up in Storm Lake and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1954. Joanne continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa in Waterloo, Iowa, where she received her teaching certificate. She also furthered her studies at SUI and earned her B.S. Degree from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

Joanne was united in marriage to Ned I. Snyder on July 2, 1989, in Mason City. Over the years, she lived in West Liberty, Iowa (3 years), Philadelphia, Pa., (1 year), Pensacola, Fla., (1 year), Coronado, Calif., (2 years) and Iowa City, Iowa, (3 years) before moving to Mason City in 1968.

She was an elementary school teacher for 6 years, an Investment Advisor for 2 years and a Pension Administrator at Principal Financial Group for 4 years before retiring on June 30, 1989. She then enjoyed retirement in Port Isabel, Texas.

Family was extremely important to Joanne. She enjoyed people and appreciated her friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework, bridge, hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. Joanne was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter GN, Needle Group and Laphel Study Club.

Joanne is survived by three children: Stephan (Stephanie) Rosenfeld, John (Cherish) Rosenfeld, and Ann Klug; seven Snyder children: Christine (Ron) Short, Diane Snyder, Scott (Kelli) Snyder, Stephen Snyder, Carl (Sandi) Snyder, Garrett (Ceci) Snyder and Marc (Pam) Snyder; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; sister: Joyce (Robt) Del Pesco; and sister-in-law: Phyllis (Gilbert) Egbert.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ned in 2011.
