October 1, 1930 ~ April 04, 2012

Harold J. Slagle, 81, formerly of Davenport, died Wednesday April 4, 2012 in Peoria, AZ. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors presented by the American Legion Post # 26. Those who wish to attend are asked to be at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. to join in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Odyssey Hospice, 8977 W. Athens Street Peoria, AZ. 85382.

Harold was born [Oct. 1, 1930] 1 of 8 children in Britt, IA. to Ollie H. and Flora E. Slagle. He was united in marriage to Sue C. Clifton on January 4, 1953 in Marshalltown, IA. She died on April 17, 2008. Harold served in the Army as an airborne ranger, stationed in the U.S. during the Korean war. He started the Slagle Supermarkets in 1962. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Sue across the globe. He was very active in the pony of the America's club, both in showing and breeding. He became passionate about playing golf when he retired to Arizona, where he could play every day. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

He leaves behind 4 children: Lisa (Jim) Hendrix, St. Louis, MO. Paul (Lynda) Slagle, Blue Grass, IA. Nancy (Robly) Glover, Lubbock, TX. and Mark (Sara) Slagle, LeClaire, IA. 11 grandchildren, and twin siblings Denny and Doris.
