Obituary - Roger Edmund Sawyer
August 13, 1914 ~ September 23, 1999

Born in Traer, Iowa, August 13, 1914, Roger was the only child of Louis and Nell (Tesmer) Sawyer. He graduated from Traer High in 1932, then attended Iowa State College in Ames. He then went to the Kansas City Radio School. By 1936 he was working as a radio engineer in Wisconsin. In 1938 he started working for KGLO in Mason City, IA and retired there in 1969 as the Chief Engineer of the radio and TV station.

He married Delores Bangston in 1940 and they had three children. After retirement he enjoyed golf, trout fishing and going to the Elks everyday for coffee. He was a licensed Amateur Radio operator for 63 years, holding the call W0AXT. His grandson, Steve, holds this call today.

[Roger died September 23, 1999, Mason City, Iowa. Interment was made at Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, Iowa.]
