February 22, 1909 ~ February 03, 1996MASON CITY - Neta Durfey Rodgers, 86, of 222 S. Pierce Ave., died Saturday (Feb. 3, 1996) at Americana Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson of First United Methodist Church officiating.
There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
The family suggests memorials to the Neta Durfey Rodgers Memorial Fund.
Neta Durfey Rodgers was born Feb. 22, 1909, the daughter of Jay and Bessie (Hindel) Durfey, in Manchester. Neta attended and graduated from Manchester High School. She married George E. "Andy" Rodgers on Feb. 8, 1928, in Manchester. In September of 1928 they moved to Mason City, where Neta worked for J.C. Penney for 15 years, and then Buttrey's as a salesperson, retiring in 1969. Neta's favorite past time was reading.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and ladies circle, the Rebekah Lodge #106, where she served two terms as Noble Grand.
Survivors include one daughter, Alecia Sibert of Mason City; one son, Marlin Rodgers and his wife, Barbara of Eden Prairie, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1970; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
