January 22, 1924 ~ November 27, 2006Donald G. Grupp, 82, of Chanhassen, Minn., passed away on Monday (Nov. 27, 2006) in Excelsior, Minn.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1924, in Mason City, Iowa to Carl and Bessie Grupp; the fifth of eight children.
Don was co-owner of the Grupp’s Jack & Jill Supermarkets in Mason City, until he retired in 1979.
He retired in Lakeview, Fla., and enjoyed biking, photography and, of course, his lifelong love for dogs.
He was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Roger and Bob, and his grandson, Jason.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Grupp; sons, Tom and Scott Grupp; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dick Grupp, of La Jolla, Calif. and “Bud” Grupp, of Mason City; sisters, Ruth Snyder, of Mason City and Mary Grupp, of Wales, U.K.
Celebration of life gatherings will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Dec. 3, 2006 at the Lafayette Country Club, 2800 Northview Road, Minnetonka Beach, MN 55361 as well as from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at the Elk’s Club, 111 Second St. N.E., Mason City, IA 50401.
