W. TESENE DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS

CLEAR LAKE – Walter Tesene, 55, died Sunday morning in a Mason City hospital where he had been a patient for one month.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Murley Severtson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery. The Ward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Knaak Tesene, son of Frank and Matilda Knaak Tesene, was born Jan. 25, 1910, at his present farm home in Lake Township. He lived his entire life on the same farm, 1 1/2 miles north of the airport. He attended rural schools and was graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1926. He was married to Gladys Kruggel of Swaledale June 4, 1932, in the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

Mr. Tesene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, treasurer of the church Brotherhood, member of the Farm Bureau, chairman of the Farm Bureau membership drive and secretary of the group’s county board, was associated with the Burchinal Cooperative, a member of the ASCS board, of the Evening Pastime Club 27 years, and past member of the board of directors of the Clear Lake Cooperative Creamery and Farmers Cooperative Elevator.

Survivors include his wife; one son, David Wesley, Manhattan, Kan.; three daughters, Mrs. William (Nadine Sue) Drennan, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. John (Leanne Matilda) Moss, St. Paul, Minn., and Juanita Elizabeth, a student at Iowa State University, Ames; three grandchildren, Kathleen Drennan, Michael Moss and David Tesene. Also surviving are two brothers, Roland H. Santa Maria, Calif., and Harold W. San Francisco, and a sister, Miss Esther Tesene, Clear Lake.

Pallbearers are Helmuth Zuehlke, Robert H. Furleigh Jr., Wayne Larson, Warren Peterson, Glenn Erickson and Lawrence Copley. Flowers will be arranged by Mrs. Peterson.
