STEVEN E. GOULD

Steven E. Gould, 56, of 1101 S. 9th Pl., Clear Lake, died Sunday, July 24,2011 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before the service. Family suggests memorials to Steven E. Gould Memorial Fund.

Steve was born Oct. 6, 1954 in Mason City, the son of Burnes and Buena (Helm) Gould. Steve graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1973 and continued his education at Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa and A.I.B. Business College in Des Moines, Iowa.

He worked in the office for a pipeline in Texas and later moved back to Clear Lake. He worked for Winnebago Industries, Forest City, Iowa for over 27 years. Steve married Dora Garza on Feb. 23, 1982 in Kanawha, Iowa.

He enjoyed playing sports in high school and continued playing softball, golf and bowling. He made the comment that he had accomplished a grand slam, hole-in-one and bowled a 300 game. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, camping, attending his children's athletic events and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed going on walks with his close friends and dogs. He was an avid reader. The last three years he especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Dora, to special places.

Steve is survived by his wife, Dora Gould, Clear Lake; four children, Danielle Hall, Killeen, Texas, Daphne Bernard and Jerry Sawyer, Marshalltown, Iowa, Joel Gould and Faye Nuddleman, Clear Lake, and Toni Gould, Mason City; seven grandchildren, Kiersten Hall, Katlynn Hall, Jacob Hall, Kelsey Hall, Kyli Jacobsen, Dylan Jacobsen and Caleb Bernard; three sisters, Karen (Robert) Petznick, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Judy Bartlett, Decorah, Iowa and Donna (Dennis) Petersen, Clear Lake; several nieces and nephews and his best friend and companion, Winston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
