GLENN E. WESTOVER
CLEAR LAKE - Glenn E. Westover, 83, of 108 S. Eighth St., died Tuesday (May 27, 1997) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Thomas Healey officiating. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Glenn was born on Oct. 22, 1913, in rural Burchinal, the son of Ed and Geneva (Bisgrove) Westover. He attended rural country schools. Glenn worked for Sam Kennedy after school.
He married Lucile Crozier on Feb. 24, 1935, at the Congregational Parsonage in Clear Lake.
Glenn started working for Farmers Co-op Elevator, Clear Lake, in March of 1942 and became manager in 1948. He continued as manager until his retirement on Jan. 1, 1977.
Glenn loved to do gardening, raise flowers, watch rodeos and watch the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bulls.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, and the IOOF Lodge in Clear Lake.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Lucile Westover, Clear Lake; two sons, Roger Westover, Clear Lake, and Allan Westover and his wife, Bonnie, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; one sister, Ellen Mae Ouverson and her husband, Leonard, Clear Lake; one brother, Gene Westover and his wife, Maxine, of Clark, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Tammy Boeshart and her husband, Jeffrey, Clear Lake; and Jona Westover and Nathaniel Westover, both of Brooklyn Park, Minn.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Westover; one brother, George Westover; and one sister, Gertrude Marion.
