FLORENCE R. JANTE
CLEAR LAKE - Florence Rose Jante, 72, of 607 North Shore Drive, died Thursday (Sept. 14, 2000) at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jana Swenson officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
Florence Rose Jante was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Goodell, daughter of Roy and Sadena (Green) Cline. She was united in marriage to Curtis R. Jante on Aug. 25, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Garner. Together, they farmed in the Garner area until 1956.
Curtis and Florence built the A&W Restaurant in Belmond and operated it until 1961 when they sold the business. They purchased the A&W Restaurant in Forest City and operated it until 1989. She and her husband, Curtis, moved to Clear Lake in January 1989.
Florence loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, the P.E.O. Club and the TTT Sorority.
She is survived by one son, Ray Jante and his wife, Jan, Keokuk; two daughters, Linda Dickson and her husband, Jim, Ankeny, and Sherill Moen and her husband, Dan, Coralville; eight grandchildren, Teri Jo Peterson, Eddy Jante, Billie Jante, Brett Jante, Meghan Dickson, Guy Dickson, Jeremie Moen and Lyndsey Moen; four great-grandchildren, Teri Lynn Peterson, Samantha Peterson, Colton Jante and Autumn Moen; two sisters, Dorothy Tisch, Santee, Calif., and Alice Jacobmeyer and her husband, Howard, Belmond; and several nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Doris Hettel; and one brother, Raymond Cline.
