Obituary - Peter Adams
1841 ~ 1907

Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa

Peter ADAMS was born in Germany March 25, 1841, and died at his home here April 11, 1097. He came to America in 1854 settling in Wisconsin. In 1881 he came to Iowa and lived around Clear Lake and Ventura ever since, where he has many friends.

He enlisted in the Army in 1864, serving in Co. D. 42nd Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. In 1863 [sic] he married, but his wife died about a year later [sic]. April 6, 1881, he was married to Mrs. Caroline KYLE, a widow with nine children. To this union was born two children, Dora, who preceded here father to the better land, and Fred who now lives on the old homestead.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. PENN at the U.B. Church. Internment was made in the Ventura [a.k.a. Clear Lake Twp.] Cemetery.

A large number of relatives and friends are left to mourn his loss.

Those from away who were here to attend the funeral were as follows: Paul DORROW and family of Crystal Lake, Mrs. HOBBS of Crystal Lake, Ed LAUN and wife, and George SCHERF and wife, of Charles City, Mrs. TEGLER of Clear Lake, John KYLE and family of Titonka, George KYLE and wife of Fort Dodge, Frank and Dan KYLE of Walnut Grove, Minn., P. WINES and wife of Mason City.

Mrs. George KYLE of Fort Dodge, remained with Mrs. ADAMS until Thursday.
