Marie Faber, 73, of 207 South 13th St., Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Jan.
28, 2009, at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake, surrounded by her loving
family. A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 2, at St. Patrick’s Catholic
Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. John R. Tilp and Msgr. John Hemann
officiating. Inurnment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
the Marie Faber Memorial Fund.

Marie was born on the family farm on Oct. 24, 1935, the daughter of Carl A.
and Helen (Gard) Sippel at Schaller, Iowa. Marie graduated from Sacred Heart
Catholic School in Early, Iowa. She attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux
City, Iowa.

Marie was united in marriage to Jerry Faber on Feb. 11, 1956 at Early,
Iowa. They moved to Clear Lake in 1959 where they placed their roots raising
five children. Marie worked as a waitress at Witke’s, The Ritz, Best Western and
Martha’s in Clear Lake and Holiday Inn and Seven Nations in Mason City. She was
very involved at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she played the organ for
over 40 years providing music for the congregation, funerals and weddings. She
loved to paint scenic pictures, ceramics, puzzles and knitting. She was devoted
to praying the Rosary. Marie’s greatest gift was to lead her family by faith and
example.

Marie is survived by her husband, Jerry; five children, Carol (Greg)
Jennings, Sue (Matt) Larsen, Bill (Christina) Faber, all of Clear Lake; Ellen
(Kevin) Miller, Indianola, Iowa, and Steve (Angela) Faber, Clear Lake; 16
grandchildren, Andrea (Tom) Rauk, Amanda (Jeremy) Korenberg, Gregory (Christy)
Jennings, Ehrin (Tony) Kelly, Jack (Sara) Larsen, Steven (Joella) Larsen, Ann
Marie Miller, Elana Miller, Michael Miller, Samantha Faber, Rea Faber, Madison
Faber, Kaye Faber, Jessica Faber, Sara Faber and Joe Faber; four
great-grandchildren, Ruby Rauk, Lucy Rauk, Max Kelly and Nora Jennings; one
sister, Joan Bloyer, Odebolt, Iowa; a brother, Joe (Mary Ann) Sippel, Storm
Lake, Iowa; and her mother-in-law, Mary Faber Ludwig, Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bill and Edward
Sippel.
