Betty Ann Powell, 76, 3662 North Shore Dr., Clear Lake, died Sunday evening,
Sept. 21, 2003 at her home. A funeral Mass was held Friday, Sept. 26, at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Msgr. Robert Hogan officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Betty Ann Powell Memorial Fund. Interment will be
held at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Betty was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Earl C.
and Albertine "Midge" (Charleston) Welsh. As a child, Betty moved with her
family to Mason City where she graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in
1945. She attended Nursing school at Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. where she
met Wm. Thomas Powell. They were married Oct. 26, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Mason City. They first made their home in Missouri Valley, Iowa,
followed by Sioux Center, Garner, Denison, and Clear Lake in 1967.

Betty loved to garden, knit and do other handiwork; play bridge and go fishing.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and many other clubs and
organizations

Betty is survived by her son, Robert Thomas Powell and his wife, April, Ocala,
Fla.; her daughter, Mary Ann Bratvold and her husband, Randy, Milton, Wis.; one
brother, Thomas Welsh and his wife, Judy, Las Cruces, N.M.; five grandchildren,
Jesse Hyde, Milton, Wis., Stacy Schelman and her husband, Charles, Milwaukee,
Wis., Betsy Bratvold, and her fiancé, Jeremy Zajac, Milton,Wis., Ray and Todd
Powell, Ocala, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Allison, Andrew, Blaine, Eli and
Roarke Hyde; her little dog, Patsy, and many relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William, on Sept.
18, 1983.
