Shelly J. Rose, 42, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1998.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the United Methodist Church in
Clear Lake with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Internment was at the Clear
Lake Cemetery.

Shelly was born Dec. 24, 1955 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Orvin and
Margaret (Baker) Vaage. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1974. She
worked at Pamida and the Lake Theater. Shelly married Darvin Rose on Nov. 6,
1976 at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake. They lived in Forest City,
Iowa, and Garner, Iowa, before moving permanently to Clear Lake in 1988. She
owned and operated her own day care center since 1978. She was a member of the
United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church both in
Garner and Clear Lake.

Shelly enjoyed going to antique shops and craft shops. Friends and family
remember her for always putting others first before herself, her great sense of
humor, her love of music, her good cooking and most of all she enjoyed family
gatherings. She loved doing crafts, arranging flowers, painting, being outdoors
and drawing pictures for her kids. She loved the fall.

She is survived by her husband, Darvin Rose, Clear Lake; her mother, Margaret
Vaage, Clear Lake; two daughters, Carrie Rose and Angie Rose, of Clear Lake; one
brother, Randy Vaage and his wife, Linda, and their children, Jennifer, Michele
and Jeff Vaage, Clear Lake; mother-in-law, Laura Rose, Morgan, Minn.; two
brother-in-laws, Russell Rose and his wife, Karen, Sleepy Eye, Minn., DuWayne
Evenson, Minnesota Lakes, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Sandy Torkelson and her
husband, Bernie, Granite Falls, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her father, Orvin Vaage, August 1987; her
sister-in-law, Mary Lou Evenson; and her father-in-law, Marvin Rose.
