Lake Resident Dies Suddenly – Funeral Services for L. P. AXELSEN to Be Sunday at Church – Clear Lake – Lars Peter AXELSEN, 69, 500 West Division Street, died at a Mason City hospital Thursday afternoon following a major operation performed that morning. He had been at the hospital since Monday and in failing health for several months.

Mr. AXELSEN was born at Veddum, Jutland, Denmark, April 1, 1872, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Christiansen. He came to America when 18 years of age and has resided in or near Clear Lake since that time. Until 1917 he worked as a tiling contractor and in 1922 he moved to a farm north of town. He is known to many as the owner of the North Shore Country Club and golf links property.

Dec. 22, 1897, he was married to Miss Bertha PEDERSEN at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Roesdahl north of Ventura by the Rev. Mr. Wald, Lutheran pastor at Fertile.

Mr. AXELSEN was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two sisters, a son, Irving Peter, who died in 1927, and his wife, who died Oct. 14, 1939.

Surviving are five children, Mrs. Jens WIND, 208 Burden Street; Mrs. A. M. CARLSON and Leon AXELSEN, Chicago, Ill.; Milo AXELSEN, Murphy, Idaho, and Mrs. Royal THIES, Clear Lake; a brother, Chris AXELSEN, 213 South Fourth Street, and six grandchildren.

Mr. AXELSEN was a member of the Zion Lutheran church and of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah orders.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2o’clock at the residence and at 2:30 at the Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. Ruben Mostrom, pastor, will conduct the rites and burial will be in Clear Lake cemetery. Ward’s funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

NOTE – Mr. AXELSEN died in 1942.
