Virgil L. Knorr, 84, 708 8th Ave N., Clear Lake, died Sunday, June 29, 2008
at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. A funeral service
will be held Thursday, July 3, 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St.,
Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Visitation will be at Ward-Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel on Wednesday from 5 - 7 p.m. and one hour preceding the
service at the church. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Military
Honors will be provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Memorials may be given to
Hospice of North Iowa or the Charity of your choice in Virgil Knorr’s Honor.

Virgil was born April 18, 1924 in LeMars, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Tena
(Ommen) Knorr. He graduated from LeMars High School in 1942 and shortly after
that was inducted into WWII military in which he served for four years.

On Nov. 6, 1949, Virgil married Joyce Kammerer in LeMars, and two sons,
Kent and Keith, were born to their union.

In October of 1954, Virgil purchased a motor business in Clear Lake, (Knorr
Electric) which he owned and operated for over 40 years. He retired in February
1995.

Virgil was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church serving on many
boards during the years. He was also an active volunteer in the community.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Joyce Knorr, Clear Lake; two sons, Kent
(Janet) Knorr, Swea City, Iowa and Keith Knorr, Burnsville, Minn.; two
grandchildren, Michael (Jamie) Knorr, Clear Lake, and Jenny (Michael) Vaske,
Clear Lake; a brother, Charles (Vicky) from Florence, Or.; three nieces and one
nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Knorr and two
sisters-in-law, Sharon Knorr and Cleta Knorr.
