Muriel C. Sorensen, 78, passed away quietly on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at
the Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Monday, Feb. 21, at Iles Funeral Homes,
Des Moines. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Muriel was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on Oct. 24, 1932 to Carl and Uldaline Smith.
She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1950. She was married to Donald
Christian and raised two sons and a daughter. Later in life she married Marion
Sorensen of Clear Lake. She was a long-time resident of Clear Lake until her
diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease five years ago.

Muriel worked off and on throughout her life, but mainly was a homemaker and
mother. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a friend and caregiver to many of
her family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed celebrating the accomplishments
of her children and grandchildren and attending the activities in which they
participated.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; three sisters,
Patricia, Cleo, and Winona; and her brother, David.

Muriel is survived by her sister, Shirley Kokenge of Albuquerque, N.M.; sons,
Clark Christian (Mary Nan) of Omaha, Neb. and Mark Christian (Maria) of Waukee,
Iowa; daughter, Diane Behm (John) of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
