Dolores “Dolly” Jean Larsen, 81, of 400 Highway 18 W., Clear Lake, died
Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City,
Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the United Methodist
Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating. Interment will be in
the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 -7 p.m. at the
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake and then one hour before the service
on Thursday at the church. Family suggests memorials to Dolores J. Larsen
Memorial Fund.

Dolly was born Sept. 10, 1929 in Reinbeck, Iowa the daughter of Peter “Iner” and
Virginia (Richmond) Petersen. She graduated from Traer High School in 1948.
Dolly married Nels Larsen Oct. 30, 1949 in Marshall County, Iowa. They spent
their honeymoon in Clear Lake and decided they liked it so much they stayed in
Clear Lake. She worked for Clear Lake Bank and Trust as a teller for many years
before leaving to raise her children. She later worked for the Clear Lake School
system in the cafeteria.

Dolly enjoyed bowling, gardening, and canning dill pickles which she called
Dolly’s Dills. She was known to many as the neighborhood backyard supervisor,
where the wiffle ball games were held. She also enjoyed spending time with her
family, especially her grandchildren.

Dolly was a member of United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, and Clear Lake V.F.W.
Auxiliary.

Dolly is survived by her husband, Nels Larsen, Clear Lake; two sons, Mike Larsen
and his wife, Jennifer, Clear Lake and their three children, Jake, Tanner and
Bailey, and Craig Larsen and his wife, Lori, Cedar Falls, Iowa and their three
children, Alec, Madison and Ashlyn; three brothers, her twin brother Don
Petersen and his wife, Norma, Cedar Falls, Bob Petersen and his wife, Lois,
Chaska, Minn. and Jim Petersen and his wife, Mary, Reinbeck.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Juanita Petersen; and
her sister, Lois Hahn and her husband, Carlin.
