Norman W. Vogel, 77, of 409 E. Lake St., Ventura, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011
at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 13, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura
with the Rev. Daird Korth officiating. Graveside services were held Monday, Feb.
14, in Clear Lake Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to Redeemer Lutheran
Church.

Norman was born May 3, 1933 in Blanchard, Iowa the son of Walter W. and Luella
Wilhelmina (Varrelmann) Vogel. He graduated from Blanchard High School in 1951.
After graduating from high school he entered the United States Army.
Norman married Betty Black on Dec. 19, 1952 in Trinity Lutheran Church,
Shenandoah, Iowa. Following the service, he attended and graduated from Iowa
State University with a bachelor of science degree.

He started working for Farm Bureau in 1958 and later became regional manager
serving in the Clear Lake area. He retired in 1988.

He worked with Leo Stattleman for many years at the Clear Lake skating rink. He
especially enjoyed working in his garden and sharing his vegetables with his
many friends. He enjoyed singing, hunting, fishing, and helping his neighbors
with their snow removal. He loved to work hard.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura.

He is survived by his three daughters, Julie Vogel and her husband, Richard
Manke, Hasting, Minn. and their children, Drew, Reed and Lane; Tammy Vogel and
her husband, Phillip Carls, Tipton, Iowa and their children, Alexandra and
Abram and fiancé, Keri; Laurie Sloterdyk and her husband, Aric, Marion, Iowa and
their children, Aaron and Luke; three sisters, Delores Murphy, Braddyville,
Iowa, Alice McIlvenna, Eugene, Ore. and Wilma Turnbull, Blanchard, Iowa;
sister-in-law, Anita Vogel, Elmo, Mo.; and Tasha Koerner, Clive, Iowa who lived
with the family for four years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; infant son, Douglas; and
brother, Glenn D. Vogel.
